Will shaving or waxing your legs make the hair thicker?

Hey guys,

I'm new at this, but I was wondering if it is true that hair will grow thicker once you wax or shave? Some people say no, but I've noticed that once people do shave, the skin looks kinda bumpy and the hair feels more rough when it grows out. Would waxing do the same? Or do you guys have any other suggestions that's best to remove leg hairs inexpensively. Thanks! Will shaving or waxing your legs make the hair thicker?
Shaving is the worst thing you can do.

You can either try wax or a cream/spray which isn't painful at all. Will shaving or waxing your legs make the hair thicker?
Waxing actually slightly damages the little bed that the hair follical sits in, which is good, because the hair has more trouble growing back, and over time, it'll grow back thinner and thinner. Shaving does NOT make your hair thicker. Those little red bumps are probably razor burn, which happens if you shave too crazily and don't take care to use a good shaving cream/body wash and lotion right after, or your razor is too dull. The reason shaving makes people think your hair is thicker is because hair is more prickly when it first grows out, it's super short and sticks up more. When it just sits on your leg and doesn't get shaved, it get's worn down by everyday things like rubbing on cloths, sun, scrubbing in the shower, etc, and it looks a bit lighter and thinner than freshly grown hair would right after a shave. Just shave whenever you get prickly!
I'd like to ask all of you people how shaving can make the hair thicker. That is physically impossible!

I am a licensed esthetician. This is what I do for a living.

Shaving does NOT make hair grow in thicker or darker. Shaving cuts the hair at the surface of the skin. When the hair is not shaved the tip of it is tapered. Meaning thinner on the end and pointed. When you shave its cut blunt, making it feel thicker. But its not. Also when its cut short it stands up opposed to laying down on the skin and feeling softer.

The ONLY thing that makes hair thicker or darker is hormones. From puberty, pregnancy, menopause, steroids. So for all the guys who say once they started shaving it got thicker, you are incorrect. You simply grew up.

Waxing does reduce the thickness and amount of hair that you have. You are pulling it out from the root causing trauma to the hair follicle. Over time it will be less and less.

Waxing will be your best bet.
Well i used to shave my legs because i thought it was the best way to get your hair without hurting yourself until i cut-ed my skin off and it made my hair gorw in 2 days! wax doesn't do that

than i try-ed waxing and u know wat? it doesn't even hurt! it makes the hair thinner if u use it repeatedly. I use wax band to wax my legs its easier ^^

and ask an expert for waxing like the temperature it should be at and the way u should wax and stuff because the temperature and stuff is important. ^^

oh yea and ask ur mom b4 u do it she'l know it better ^.-

i did it without asking my mom cuz i was shy --that was a big mistake

hope i helped!
Waxing is really good. Hair grows bach thinner. I wax my legs, arms, and armpits. It's painful but with time you get used to it and it's bearable! Hair will takes about 3-5 weeks to grow back and the hair is softer %26amp; thinner, as with shaving the hair is back 2-3 days after. And the hair is prickly.
Not so sure about you guys, but I've never waxed, but I know if you do, it doesn't grow back as fast, or anything that like, but it hurts really bad. I stick to shaving, although it does grow back faster, and thicker, for me, at least. %26lt;_%26lt;
I don't know about other people, but when I shave the hair doesn't grow back thicker, just a little darker.

Which is fine for me because I shave every other day, and if you keep up on it, shaving should be fine.
It's an urban legend that hair grows back thicker if you shave. See link.

Waxing will make the hair grow back finer and it will reduce hair over time.
waxing weakens the roots, it's exactly the opposite of shaving, which indeed it does thicken the hairs
That's just something your parents tell you so you won't start shaving. Just an urban myth pretty much.
actually shaving will make dem thicker.

nd waxing will weaken d roots makin hair thinner
waxing makes hair thinner , and never shave
i think you should be asking this question to girls not guys.
No, actually waxing makes it thinner if you keep it up. Good Luck!
shaving will

waxing won't
If you always wax your hair will go away at some point

HOPE I HELPED!!! :)
