What is better for getting rid of back hair, waxing or shaving?

The wife and I are going to Maui in 1 month. I've got back hair, and we've done waxing before and shaving. Shaving creates red bumps and in-grown hairs. Waxing seems to be ok, but sometimes bumps form as well. Which is better for a male with the dreaded back hair issue? Is there anything to stop the red bumps from forming? What is better for getting rid of back hair, waxing or shaving?
I would suggest waxing because it lasts longer. It is not as painful as they make it out to be on tv. Usually you wont get red bumps unless you where something that irritates the area. Your best bet is to research a really good waxer in your area (don't go to a cheap salon, it's not worth it). Then clear a whole day for your appointment. Go get your wax, then relax the rest of the day, shirtless.

Ask the waxer if there is anything she/he suggests you put on your back to stop irritations.

** Also make your appointment at least 2-3 days before you go to Maui, so any redness will go away. What is better for getting rid of back hair, waxing or shaving?
Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.

Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.

Electrolysis and laser hair removal are ';permanent'; hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

use nair or something along that line that is all i use to remove my hair on my legs underarms and other body hair. you don't get ingrown hair or red bumps.
I would think waxing , to get rid of the red bumps, I suggest using plenty of lotion and or gel.
Waxing would be better as it is longer lasting and the hair won't grow back all stubbly and itchy as it tends to do with shaving. The hair will grow back much quicker if you shave and you might find yourself having to shave a lot on holiday. Waxing can also cause ingrown hairs but you have to exfoliate your skin to keep it from happening. That usually happens because the hair gets weaker and is unable to grow through the skin so grows under it instead.

Any tea tree body lotion will help to keep the bumps down and rash at bay - it is also soothing as both treatments can be harsh on the skin. Aloe vera gel also worth considering.
I would go with waxing it lasts longer . Just don't get it done right before you leave incase you get sunburn. Your skin will be alittle sensitive after waxing. They sell lotion for the bumps in Walgreens. In the men's shaving section plus there is also a bikini cream for bumps too maybe your wife already has some.
